It first must be said that Pursuit is considered by most to be one of the very finest producers of outboard fishing boat in the country. The quality and attention to detail are second to none. Pursuit is part of S-2 Yachts which also produces Tiara Yachts. Since 1983, all outboard Pursuits have been produced in Ft. Pierce, FL. The 2870 Walk Around was introduced in 1996 as a replacement for the 2855 Express Fisherman. The boat remained in production for 10 years! There was only one major modification to the boat which occurred in 2000 when the deck was redesigned adding the rear folding seat with fish box, curved windshield and radius cabin top. "Boomerang" is a 2000 model and does have these desirable changes.
Construction
Pursuit uses premium polyester and vinylester resins along with the finest in E-glass knitted fiberglass cloth in the layup of their products. The 2870's hull is solid fiberglass below the waterline and is cored with Baltek balsa core in the hull sides above the waterline. The hull has 22 degrees of deadrise at the transom and features two running strakes and reversed chines. The stringers are a box style construction made of marine grade plywood completely encapsulated, inside and out, with hand-laid fiberglass and are foam filled. The deck layup is similar to the hull's but with the balsa coring used to stiffen the walking areas of the deck. Also note that the deck is constructed as one major component with the cockpit, helm deck and truck cabin all in one piece. The entire boat is hand-laid to the highest standards.
Vessel Walk Thru
The cabin is entered on port and down three steps. A dinette/v-berth is located in the bow with a beautiful teak table with a brass inlay of a sailfish. The table does lower to convert the area to a nice size V-berth. Storage is found in three lockers under the dinette cushions. The galley is just aft on port and is a molded fiberglass unit with sink, refrigerator and small storage locker. Across on starboard is the enclosed head with a handheld shower. Aft, under the helm deck, is a single mid-cabin berth which is perfect for one adult or a couple of young children and makes a great storage area. The interior also features a teak and holly sole, overhead hatch, four port lights, 12v lighting, and 110v outlets.
